Laurel says:

I had a great time playing with the new Cut N’ Color products! I have to say I was absolutely impressed with this line. I tried it out for the first time LIVE via Periscope and was blown away at how intricate the dies are! Look at how they got out all the detail of this image! It was an unexpected surprise! I heat embossed the stamped image first and then water colored it with colors from the Liquid Metals line and look at all that shine!!!!! I popped up the die cut image on a card base that I scored with my scoreboard and adhered a sentiment and done! The image takes center stage here!!!!!

Birthday Wishes with Watercolor Floral's 6x6 Papers

Are you looking for a unique Birthday gift idea, today Buffy St'John from the Creative team has the perfect solution using the Ken Oliver Watercolor Florals 6x6 papers.

Buffy says:

Hi Everybody!

Buffy here with you again today and I have created a super cute birthday “booklet” for a dear friend whose birthday is coming soon.

I wanted this little booklet to be quick and easy, colorful, whimsical and fun.

I decided to use Ken’s Watercolor Florals 6x6 Collection

These papers are so beautiful and there are 4 each of 6 designs!

What is SO cool about this collection is that each image has a vibrant image and the other side is the pastel … of the same image!!!!!!!!!

The booklet has 6 pockets and 6 tags … these papers are perfect!

I stamped affirmative messages on each tag …

And personalize each one before I present it to my friend.

I also plan to put a couple of gift cards in the pockets

For an added surprise.

Wouldn’t these be great for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day?

I hope you enjoyed this little project

Thanks for stopping by!

'Wander' Color Burst Background Cards

Combining die cuts with Color Burst backgrounds produces beautiful cards, today Buffy St John shares two with us.

Hi Everybody! Buffy here with you again on this beautiful Spring day. Today I want to share cards...well the same card 2 ways!  I want to use the same paper and die for each card.  The first card is in the purples and moody.  I imagine it to look like a frosty late winter morning.

I started with Ken Oliver's new Water Media Paper 8.5" x 11" Oh my goodness! How I LOVE this paper!  I lightly and randomly tapped Color Burst pigments onto the dry paper (textured side up) in the following order: Fuchsia, Orchid, Tangerine and just a teensy bit (1 grain or 2!),Turquoise

I misted with water from a standing position over the paper then spritzed liberally (still standing). I then dropped: Metallic Rose, Metallic Mandarin, Metallic Sky, Platinum.  I only lightly swirled this delightful slurry of color then set it aside to dry.  I cut the foreground trees in white card stock, Distressed with Peacock Feathers and Sail Boat Blue.  I stamped “Wander” from the Wanderlust stamp using ClickIts Lamp Black.  For the second card I wanted to take the same “scene” if you will into Spring!

I followed the same process as I did with the first card.  Only this time I tapped the following Color Burst pigments: Lemon Yellow, Lime Green, Chartreuse, Turqouise.  I misted with water from a standing position over the paper, then spritzed liberally (still standing) I then dropped: Metallic Jade, Verdi Gris, Metallic Sky And my trusted friend Sepia.

As you can see, It is the same card, TWO ways!  I hope you enjoyed this project, See you next time!

Color Burst Butterfly Card

Jessica Frost Ballas from the Creative Team shares a card with us today, look at the gorgeous butterfly.

Supplies Used

Color Burst Powders in Turquoise, Fuchsia, and Orchid
Liquid Metals in Yellow Gold
Color Splash 6x6 paper

Jessica says:

I sprinkled Color Burst powders onto a stamp and then spritzed it with water.  I stamped onto Water Media paper and held it for a few seconds so it had time to absorb into the paper before removing the stamp.  After it dried I painted on some gold accents with the Yellow Gold Liquid Metals.  Finally I die-cut the panel and adhered it to a background panel cut from the Color Splash 6x6 paper!

'Blooming Lovely' Color Burst Cards

Creative Team member Laurel Beard has created three beautiful spring themed floral cards, thanks to the new Color Burst Liquid Metals they certainly brightened up our day.

Laurel says:

OH OH OH! I finally got my hands on the new Color Bursts colors and the Liquid Metals! They are out of this word fabulous and if you are waiting on them, they are TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!  They work great on their own and also with the previously released colors as well!  When I got my order, I ripped open the packaging, turn on my video camera and started playing and the result are these three cards! I used the new Ken Oliver watercolor paper that just rocks my world. It is a bright white and has a smooth side and rough side…. It takes water beautifully. I had zero pilling!  The exact colors I used are linked below. I hope that you will enjoy the video that will walk you thru how I made each of these cards!

Happy Birthday Cards with Color Burst

Giovana Smith has a treat for us today with not one but two bright and colorful Birthday themed cards to share.

Giovana says:

Hello everyone, Giovana here sharing a couple of bright and cheerful birthday cards. This time I used a super easy technique that Ken has shared several times. I started cutting my watercolor panels and then misting them with water and adding the Color Burst direct onto the watercolor paper. I added a little bit of water here and there, but just a touch, I really wanted to keep the bright colors in place. It was a lot of fun and I saved few drops on another panel, for a future project. I never waste any drops, hehehe. Have you seen Ken using the whole roll of paper towel when he is working on a project? I think I will start doing that.

Color Burst Colors used for Happy Birthday card:
Color Burst Used for eat cake card: Yellow Ochre Lemon Yellow for the background, Sepia and Alizarin Crimson

I used Lamp Black Ink to stamp the sentiments.

Hope you like them.
Have a fantastic day!!

Color Burst Cards

Jessica Frost Ballas from the creative team has brightened up our day with these gorgeous and fun cards, these certainly would make our day if they popped through the letterbox.

Jessica says:

Good morning!  Jessica here for another stencil project using Color Burst Powders.  I LOVE the effect you can achieve using Ken Oliver Color Burst powders and stencils.  I used a similar technique in a post earlier this month and my process is pretty much the same.  Instead of using specific colors with patterns in the stencil I opted for an all-over wash of bright colors.  After sprinkling the powders over the stencil I spritzed them with a water bottle and allowed the colors to mix and blend.  Once they dried I removed the stencils and then added sentiments and embellishments to finish my cards!

You can visit Jessica's Blog here for more details.

We love seeing Color Burst used with other products and today Zoey has a great project using the Cosmo Cricket Watercolor Collection.  Zoey shares a fantastic tutorial on her blog

Zoey says:

Hello everyone!
I am here again to show you how amazing are color burst by Ken Oliver! Everytime I used them I always have fun and just can't stop to see how they all mix and combine together!

For the project today I will used only two Color Burst by Ken Oliver : Yellow Lemon and Ultramarine Blue

Color Burst by Ken Oliver works amazingly on every paper but today I wanted to play along with Cosmo Cricket Watercolor Collection -- and they work perfectly!

I mixed the Ultramarine Blue and Yellow Lemon in different layers to get this wonderful shade of green-ish .

I used the colored watercolor paper to make a cover for an handmade book I stitched for a friend of mine...and of course I had to make the coordinate little bag!
Want to see a quick tutorial on how I made it?

Stay Happy Stay Creative...till next time!

Creating cards with Color Burst

Jessica Frost Ballas combined Color Burst with Hero Arts Stamps to create two cards with very different sentiments.  The versatility of Color Burst means that no matter what the occassion you can create a fitting card.

Jessica says

Hi Jessica here!  It must be the week for stenciling and Color Burst powders!  I saw Ken demo the powders and stencils in some of his CHA videos and wanted to give it a try!

I started by taping a stencil to a piece of watercolor paper and then I sprinkled various Color Burst powders randomly over the stencil.  I wanted a more abstract look so I didn't assign colors to specific areas of the stencil as he did.  Then I spritzed the paper lightly with water, let it soak for a few seconds and then blotted off the color.

I let it air dry and then repeated the process with more powder and more water.  I did this a few times until I was happy with the variation in colors and shades!  After the panel was totally dry I trimmed it down and completed two very different looking cards with the pieces!

I love how the sympathy card almost looks like stained glass.
