Creative Team April Challenge - Day 5

It's day 5 of the April Challenge.  Thank you all so much for your comments and feedback so far, we cannot wait to see your submissions, so just to remind you here are the details:

 The theme this month is 'Family' and the challenge was to create using three Color Burst colors, one metallic color, Stick it, any stamp and die cuts. (If you haven't got all the supplies above don't worry you can still enter as long as there is Color Burst in the project)

This month we will be opening up the challenge to you. Create a project following the brief above and share it on Facebook with the tag #kenoliveraprilchallenge or email your submissions to sharon@kenolivercrafts.com.  You could win some Color Burst for your stash.  

The deadline for submissions is April 29th. Winners will be announced her on the blog and Facebook on May 1st.

Creative Team March Challenge - Zoey Scarpelli

The Creative Team were challenged this month to create projects under the Floral/Spring Team and we are sharing their fabulously creative uses for Ken Oliver products. The brief for this month was to create a project that was not a card, tag or Journal !, tricky but the team as always knocked it out of the park.

Zoey Scarpelli has used so many different techniques on her project, collage, mixed media, paper flowers. The concept is so clever and the end result is absolutely breathtaking.

Hello everyone!

Zoey here today to show you how AMAZING are the brand new Color Burst and Liquid Metals! Trust me...the moment you try them...you will fall in love!

I love how Color Burst and Liquid Metals blends PERFECTLY together. 

The Mixed Media Paper by Ken Oliver is the best surface for Color Burst, they go like butter! 

I used Ken Oliver - Studio Collection Clear Acrylic Stamps SET 1 to add my word and the star on the bottom of the figure shape.

This will hang on the wall to remind me that life is awesome and that I always have to trust my heart and stay strong.

Watercolor Resist with Color Burst

We love seeing Color Burst used with other products and today Zoey has a great project using the Cosmo Cricket Watercolor Collection.  Zoey shares a fantastic tutorial on her blog, 

Zoey says:

Hello everyone!

I am here again to show you how amazing are color burst by Ken Oliver! Everytime I used them I always have fun and just can't stop to see how they all mix and combine together!

For the project today I will used only two Color Burst by Ken Oliver : Yellow Lemon and Ultramarine Blue. 

Color Burst by Ken Oliver works amazingly on every paper but today I wanted to play along with Cosmo Cricket Watercolor Collection -- and they work perfectly!

I mixed the Ultramarine Blue and Yellow Lemon in different layers to get this wonderful shade of green-ish .

I used the colored watercolor paper to make a cover for an handmade book I stitched for a friend of mine...and of course I had to make the coordinate little bag!

Mixed Media Art Journal Page using Color Burst

Creative Team member Zoey Emanuela Scrapelli wows us today with the bright and vibrant art journal page using Color Burst.  

Zoey says:

Hello everyone, I am so excited to be back on Ken Oliver's blog! Today I want to show you this bright art journal page! I worked on a mixed media paper and I simply added few drops of Color Burst Violet and Color Burst Indigo and spritzed a bit of water -- I let it drip and move all around the page and used a second piece of mixed media paper to "catch" the excess.  I blended in Color Burst Yellow Ochre and Color Burst Lemon Yellow. I simply love the way they all blends creating new shades!

Then I die cut a shape and alphabet from the second piece of paper, added some stitching around and then I assembled everything together!

Isn't that page just a "Burst of Color" ? 

I am in love with these powder, every time the results is different!

Trust Your Strength Tag

Creative Team member Zoey Scarpelli has taken tags to a whole new level with Color Burst,  see how she has created this work of art on her blog here.

Zoey says:

Hello Everyone! I'm Zoey and I am super excited to share with you my first projects as Creative Team for Ken Oliver!

I created this colorful tag and I had so much fun playing with the color burst!

The star is from the Ken Oliver Studio Set 1 and guess what I used to stamp it? Yes, you guessed it right... I used Color Burst! I used Alizarin Crimson and Yellow Ocher.

I have to admit that I had to try this technique few times before getting the perfect stamp because I was adding too much water - this one you see in the tag is a second generation stamp and I am truly impressed how the result is vivid!

The background of my tag is covered with tissue paper, gesso and then colored with Ultramarine Blue Color Burst. I added strips of drywall tape and covered with some more gesso before blending the Terre Verte Color Burst with the background. 

I completed the background with some more stamping, sewing machine stitch  and other little details to create some more interest!

Before assemble everything together I cut a piece of vellum and colored it with Alizarin Crimson Color Burst and I love how the transparency of the Vellum still "mix" with the background creating a fantastic Violet-blueish shade!
